ABOUT THE SERIES

Gospel Shaped Emotions Series | Sept 8 – Oct. 6

Why do we struggle so much with our emotions? The emotions we experience are not intrinsically evil or sinful in and of themselves, but when these emotions get out of control, they tend to lead us to places we never thought we would go. You see, the problem we have is not that we are too emotional or that we experience a myriad of emotions in the general occurrence of life. It’s the way we process the world around us as sinners. We should not stuff our emotions or hide them, but we should lose them in Christ and his attributes.

In this series we'll explore how our emotions do not have to control us, but can be submitted to the authority of Jesus. Anger, anxiety, joy, and grief can all find a peaceful home at the foot of the cross.

HOW IT WORKS

For the 5 weeks of the Gospel Shaped Emotions series we are going all-in, and we want you to join us! Join us at 9am and 10:30am on Sundays as Pastor Kevin teaches us all about  four different emotions–anger, anxiety, joy, and grief. But we don't want to stop at Sunday mornings! 

GROUPS

At Westover, we believe that connecting in community is a vital part of our spiritual journey, and we want to help you get connected to an Emotions Group! During the Gospel Shaped Emotions Series, groups will meet weekly to watch a video from Pastor Kevin, to dive deeper into Scripture, and learn from each other through group lesson questions found in our free Group Guide.

PERSONAL STUDY

In addition to groups lessons, you also have the option to purchase Gospel Shaped Emotions: Learning to Lay Our Emotions Down at the Cross of Jesus by Pastor Kevin Wilson. This book can be used as an optional devotional by reading one chapter a day, five days a week during each week of the series. 

A limited number of physical copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Westover Bookstore. You can also purchase the e-book on Amazon.
