We cannot look at the poor and the oppressed and callously call them to pull themselves out of their own difficulty. Jesus did not treat us that way. The gospel replaces superiority toward the poor with mercy and compassion. We must work for the eternal and common good and show our neighbors we love them sacrificially whether they believe as we do or not.
Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. 11 There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land. Deuteronomy 15:10-11

A Simple Gesture
A Simple Gesture is a local non-profit that partners with churches and civic groups to provide a steady supply of food to local food banks and pantries in order to end hunger in Greensboro and Guilford County. Help feed children and families in need in our area by picking up a green bag at the local wall in the Westover lobby or at the front desk during office hours.
In 2021 we will be collecting monthly, on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
